Chris Jamison:

I wanted to play the drums at age 5, and that same year we found out I was far-sighted in my right eye. I was prescribed corrective glasses but hated wearing them. So my parents struck a deal with me.

They said if I wore my glasses for one year they would buy me a drum kit. Well I made it the whole year and a received my first kit. It was a Maxwin 3 piece kit. They don’t even make them anymore, but I will never forget that kit.

By the time I was in Jr. High, I had already performed at our church accompanying other musicians. It was kind of cool, come to think about it. By high school I was playing both in orchestra and marching band. I had a small 3 piece rock band that a friend and I (that friend is Joel Renfrow, Lead Guitarist for ‘Stigmurder’) formed and we had played at a few school functions. We practiced at a local church that we played at on Sundays for a few bucks, and the Minister was really nice and said it was cool to practice. We thought we were the shit, rocking out to Ozzy & Dokken in a church  ...I thought for sure we would burn in hell for that!!!

Well graduation came and went and I found myself with another band called Rock Bottom (I was, and still am a big Kiss fan). We played 1 gig and did a 3 song demo and that was about it. Well I didn’t play much after that. I got married, and started driving trucks long haul. I had given up all my dreams on becoming a professional musician. But life has a way of getting you back on the highway when you take a wrong exit.

A couple years ago I met Ricky D at a garage sale he was having. I spotted a drum kit tucked underneath some blankets. I asked him if he played and he said no but was looking for someone who did. I told him I was out of practice but had been chomping at the bit to play again. We exchanged numbers and a couple months later he called me.

Since then we have become best of friends and have inspired each other to be better than the day before. What’s next? Who knows?
